This week’s ‘Spotlight’ is on Keepsake Blankets! They are an amazing way of treasuring your little one’s outgrown clothing – beautiful, practical and every patch tells a story.
This little monkey means the world to me and this isn’t even one of my children’s keepsake memory blankets! This is my gorgeous Godson’s and this little monkey patch is special because it was from a baby grow that was given to me at my baby shower for my first born.
However, it was ‘newborn’ size and I knew through all 3 of my pregnancies that my babies were on the ‘above average’ size. Even still, this little monkey babygrow was packed in all 3 of my hospital bags ‘just in case’.
Sure enough, all 3 of my babas were born around the 8.5lb mark so none of them got to wear it. But 6 weeks after I’d had my third, my life-long best friend had her baby and I was able to pass this little monkey on!
Fast forward a year and when she gave it back to me to be made in to his keepsake blanket, I smiled from ear to ear. I remembered the nervous excitement I felt when I first opened it at my baby shower and as I packed it in all of my hospital bags.
Now I love knowing this little monkey keeps my godson warm and snuggly each night.
That’s what I love about clothes, they hold so many memories – a little snap shot of life just like a photo. What would your story look like?
